Scottie Davis has written hundreds of travel articles and columns about this area, had a travel feature on radio and made dozens of travel presentations for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and many clubs. Through the years, she has become the guru of places to go within two to five hours of the Lowcountry and now arranges one day and overnight motorcoach trips to visit these special destinations.
“We go to places people may not explore on their own or may not have heard about,” she explains, citing Mepkin Abbey (Moncks Corner, SC) and Sapelo Island, GA, as examples. Davis is adamant that if she asks people to leave this area, even for one day, it must be a worthwhile experience.
“We create trips to the places I consider to be the most interesting in the area,” she explains. “Whether you join the luxury trip to Biltmore Estate in Asheville for the holidays or the day to the tea garden and winery on Wadmalaw Island, I want you to feel you have gotten a good value.”
Local clubs and groups call on Davis to customize trips for them. “Creating just the right trip for a group is a wonderfully satisfying challenge,” Davis says. The Day Trippers of Sea Pines Women’s Club, Osher Lifelong Learning of USCB, St Francis Ladies, Indigo Run, Moss Creek, The Crescent, Women’s Association of Hilton Head Island, Callawassie Ladies, Sun City Travel Club, and Spring Island are a few of the groups she has worked with over the past few years.
Davis moved to Hilton Head Island in the mid-80s and now resides in Okatie. She is a graduate of the Leadership Hilton Head program, has served on the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra Board, Port Royal Plantation Board, Friends of the Library Board and many others.
She is passionate about spending time with family and friends; loves music, traveling, and running on beaches and trails.
