Join us for a fascinating day at Mepkin Abbey on the Cooper River near Monks Corner, SC. The serene monastery is home to The Trappist Order. Each year, they invite the public to the Mepkin Creche Festival to view a magnificent nativity exhibit.
The theme of this year’s festival is; “We are Nativity: Celebrating the Many Faces of Nativity, Accented with Fabric.” Past festivals have featured nativity scenes from both Mepkin Abbey’s extensive collection and private collections. These creches, from all over the world, are in pottery, bronze, straw, porcelain and many other mediums. .
After leaving Mepkin, we will travel to Summerville for a lovely late lunch at Oscars. On the way home, there will be a stop at the Artisan Center in Walterboro to view (and purchase) juried works by South Carolina artisans.
